The style of editing does not have too much to it, it is simply how the scenes are linked, put together and worked in a way to create the entirety of the sequence.
This could be from jagged editing for a fast paced sequence, on to create and eerie feel with a slow, dramatic turn.
A straight cut for example is a shot that goes from one scene to another instantly without any fades.

Speed of editing.
The speed of editing is used to manipulate how an audience feels when watching a film. if something is editing to have quick, poppy changes, it makes the audience feel excited, lifting their adrenaline levels.
If the scene is meant to be romantic, or dramatic, then it will tend to be editing to be very slow and heavy to give you a heavier mood.
A trailer will almost always use speed of editing as it sets the feel of the entire film, rather than a specific scene, which makes it much much more important.
Overall, the speed of editing is simply used to set the mood of a scene or the film, creating an atmosphere to immerse the audience.

What is our thriller about?
Our thriller is about a young couple who are taking a stroll through a forest. Although things take a bad turn when the couple get kidnapped. As the film skips ahead a few hours, we find the couple in a shed, tied up, with a bag over their head, although we never actually see the female of the relationship at this point. when the man finally has the bag over his head removed, he sees just how badly he has been treated, tied to a chair surrounded by a multitude of instruments made to torture and harm people, including saws, axes and knives, given a chance, he manages to escape, with no sign of his girlfriend anywhere. a quick chase sequence erupts as he climbs over roofs and dives to escape, leaving a trail of blood from his numerous wounds, finally cornered and confronted by the man that kidnapped him and.... His girlfriend, who he then finds out hired the hitman to kidnap, torture, and then murder him, after a short fight sequence our hero escapes, leaving the two of them dead behind.

continuality of editing.
Continuity of editing is when a scene rolls into another to smooth out the discontinuity of the editing process and to establish a coherence between shots. In the majority of films, coherence is achieved by cutting to contniuty, althought certain films incorporate cutting to continuity as a more complex technique, as it also ties to show psychological continuity. Continuity of editing is also known as a montage technique which relies on symbolic association of ideas rather than association of simple physical action.
An example of continuity editing is the video below, which clearly shows how a scene can roll on over to another,

Rough Sketch/Explanation of location and key points to not The main palces that we will be filming is; in a forest where the kidnapping will take place, in a empty room with no detail, the next place would be in Ellese's house when we need to do a reveal scene.
Access to location via:
The access to the location will be good because we have full access to them. For example the forest we could use hanialut forest or we could also use Epping forest. Also for the empty room we can use Ellese's shed or some other dark empty room. Lastly Ellese's house because we will not have to change locations to record and it fits the approiate feel. Name and number of location contact: 0208 227 9319 (Ellese's home number) |
Health and Safety Issues to note:
There will most likely be some power tools or sharp objects in the shed so we have to be careful if we need to move any of it out of the shed. Also at one point in the film I will have to jump out of the window and onto the shed roof to escape from the people chasing me so we just have to make sure that the weather isn't bad and wont cause any accidents. |
Potential Filming Problems :
Depending on the weather we may have to re think our recording times. This is because if it is raining it cn be bad for the camera. The rain could also be good for recording because it can give a certain mood to the film. The space issue in the shed could also be a problem. |

Die Hard with a vengeance analysis
Die hard starts as Bruce Willis is called for upon a phone which later we find out to be a very dangerous terrorist.
As the film begins, a bomb goes off in the city which we find out to be the work of the terrorist organisation. As we learn that the bomb was designed to get the attention of the police as the terrorist actually wanted Bruce Willis reinstated into the police as he had been suspended.
Bruce Willis plays the role of John McLaine who has a history with the 'head terrorists' family, having murdered his brother in the film before.
John is played along as the terrorist threatens to continue blowing up highly populated public places if John does not comply with his orders. As the first task goes ahead John ends up meeting with Samuel L. jackson who plays the role of Zeus, a locksmith who has a strong hatred for white people.
As the film gets in motion John and Zeus are put through numerous tasks to please the terrorist as they work with all of their resources to track him down.
Every time John gets close to the terrorist, who refers to himself as Simon, he always seems to get ahead of him, however as the film comes to its dramatic climax, John and Zeus are captured aboard a ship as they try to find out the code of a bomb inside of Zeus' grandsons school. As they discover there is no real bomb in the school and the real one is on the ship, they escape their deaths as the bomb explodes.
The climax of the film comes as a bottle of aspirin that Simon gives John has the location that he is heading to on the bottom, causing John and the entire police force to turn up and arrest/kill everyone there.
The film uses a Mcguffin of all of the gold in the new york city bank, which we do not really care about but is important nevertheless.
